Structure and discipline made a massive difference in my ability to balance my personal needs and work demands. I have completed just over one month of daily blogs (meaning my schedule has mostly remained intact).
One month of hard work has started to form quality habits. Actions and behaviors that are occuring subconsciously. I have found it important to blend repetition and conditioning with slight changes to keep things interesting.
For example: I write my blog in a different place in the morning; I brew my coffee a little stronger; I choose new music; I run in a new place. All these small decisions help to keep the grind from becoming too stale. These little choices can compound to have quite the rejuvenating effect.
