I love to problem solve. That’s why I played poker. Give me a unique situation, with variables that are hard to predict. I dream of helping people sort through the chaos and execute a solution.
I need to embrace this and let people know that I am truly engaged and love dealing with emergencies. This is what originally drew me towards wilderness medicine (which is all about creative problem solving.) The search continues to fill my mind with massive amounts of information. This informs my ability to quickly and effectively resolve conflict.
To avoid an overwhelming sense of responsibility and defeat (because we can’t fix everything) there are practices to incorporate in my daily work life. I can devise attack plans. These plans will help me and my teams to prepare for and anticipate issues before they mount their ugly heads.
While fixing is necessary and amazing - like everything else, moderation is key.
