I have been fairly steadfast for 25 years about my intention to do the best I can. To pursue my passions. To never give into the concessions of my peers. Standard corporate life is not for me. Cubicles existed only in my nightmares. I knew that I would never find myself buried in the heart of the corporate world.
Weirdly, my dream to pursue alternate careers is still very much in place. Yet - not in the way I expected. The definition of corporation is ‘a group legally authorized to act as one’. There is nothing inherently wrong with a corporation, according to definition.
It is the culture that is formed that I was adamantly opposed to participating in. A grind that demands distance from friends and family. A time and energy suck - where nearly everyone is unhappy and just wants a paycheck.
I never wanted to be a part of that. Yet I have always wanted to create a community of like-minded people who are working hard to achieve a socially impactful goal. Leaving no trace is an outdoorsy mantra. Leave only footprints, take only pictures.
As we build rerouted, I insist we step up to the next level. We will build an organization that is focused on leaving a meaningful, positive impact and taking only information to do better work.
